Welcome to my Universe
I am a Maryland transplant living in New Mexico and loving every single minute of it.
Hi there! My name is Idabelle and I am from a small town in Maryland. I grew up an hour from both Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, MD. I visited a lot of museums and Civil War battlefields, and developed an unhealthy attachment to blue crab and salt water taffy. If you offer me a box of Ocean City’s Candy Kitchen taffy to this day, a Pavlovian response is triggered and I may start to drool.
In 2000, I left the east coast and moved to New Mexico. Having spent seven years visiting friends and family here in the Land of Enchantment, I decided it would simply be cheaper to just live here rather than fly out five times a year. I have spent the last twelve years learning the ways of the desert, repeating the phrase, “but it’s a dry heat,” and trading my attachment for blue crab for one for green chilis. The “Land of Enchantment” offered me years of culture shock but I feel I have truly assimilated into a “born-again” New Mexican.
I am currently living in Albuquerque with the love of my life, “King” Edward, two very lovable but not necessarily intelligent dogs, and disturbingly unbalanced cat. I am working toward my Bachelor of Business at New Mexico State University, developing an addiction to hula hooping, and learning about yoga and wine in equal portions. I have recently discovered an obsession with CrossFit and work on feeding it 3-5 times a week. In other words, just trying to stay busy.
This year, I have decided to spend a portion of each day concentrating on the things that I am grateful for. I am hoping it will keep me in a positive frame of mind and focused on the best of what I have in my life.
